Project description

Individuality desired

The project started for the clients, as is usually the case, with a house idea. Now their very own, individual home stands there, perfectly tailored to their wishes and requirements.

It's an elongated plot of land in Kaisten, in the canton of Aargau. A quiet neighborhood. The view: green meadows, charming country lanes, rolling hills, and dense forests. Since 2019, a couple's detached house has stood there, a dream they realized with our help. After purchasing the land, the first step was to find the right house design from our portfolio. "I liked the 'Vista' house from the outside, but I knew that the floor plan it offered wouldn't suit us. Inside, I preferred the 'Blickfang' house . And so, we ended up with a combination of both," says the homeowner.

Space for individuality

The clients appreciated our straightforward approach. "Although we had these two house designs as a starting point, we were able to incorporate any of their wishes. This resulted in a larger floor plan than originally planned, giving us more interior space," explains the client. Furthermore, a fireplace was a feature the clients wanted and had to be included in the design. "In my home country—England—gathering around the fireplace is a cherished tradition. However, I didn't want one of those typical, tucked away in a corner. Our fireplace was to be in the center of the room, allowing it to be enjoyed from multiple angles," says the client. The kitchen and living room were to be spacious and semi-open. A large garage was also important to the client. "I place great value on interior design. I'm accustomed to beautiful living spaces. My parents also had high standards for architecture," adds the client. The result is this spacious detached house—a blend of "Vista , " "Blickfang," and many of their own ideas.

Bright rooms and exciting acoustic solutions

A spacious entrance hall with a built-in wardrobe and shelving offers ample room for shoes, jackets, and everyday essentials. Adjacent to it is a large storage room. "We're very grateful for that. Only now, since moving into the house, have we realized how important this storage room is to us, and we're glad we included it in the plans," says the homeowner. Another door leads to the basement, where the cellar, laundry room, and utility room converge. A long hallway leads to the bright living and dining room. The different living areas are visually separated by the fireplace, which is open on three sides. Despite this, the atmosphere is welcoming and spacious. This was one of the homeowner's requirements. "Music is my hobby, and I often sit in my armchair in the living room listening to my records. Good sound quality is very important to me, and that only works if the room is a certain size," he explains. With his top-of-the-line sound system and state-of-the-art technology, the homeowner has given the living space two functions: On the one hand, it offers a place for relaxation and cozy evenings watching TV; on the other hand, it's a space for sound and culture. Passing the fireplace, you enter the open-plan kitchen with a dining table. The bright, spacious kitchen, consisting of a wall unit and a cooking island, was particularly important to the homeowner. Rows of cookbooks attest to delicious gourmet meals and a passion for cooking. "I also appreciate the large, deep drawers, especially now that the kitchen is in use," she says. Next to the dining table, which runs parallel to the kitchen island, is the patio. The view of the greenery can be enjoyed from a large table or from lounge-style chairs. Thanks to a large window front, plenty of natural light floods the ground floor, creating a harmonious space. A bathroom in beige and white tones, complete with a bathtub, rounds off the ground floor design.

Despite the extra effort – the elegant railing wins the race

A straight staircase leads to the upper floor. This, too, was redesigned according to the owners' wishes. "Originally, a spiral staircase was planned, but that just didn't suit us. So we opted for a simple staircase from another house design," explains the homeowner. The narrow, elegant railing was also one of their own ideas. "We saw the railing in another detached house and wanted to use it instead of a wider wall." Upstairs, there are two large rooms, each used as an office by one of the spouses. One of the rooms also has a bed available for guests. The largest of the three rooms, flooded with light, is the master bedroom. It is complemented by a walk-in closet and direct access to the large bathroom with a toilet, shower, and double vanity. The extra-high ceilings, which are around 2.60 meters high on the ground floor instead of 2.40 meters, create a sense of space and make the rooms appear larger. "We are very happy about that," the owners agree. "We feel comfortable here."

Feedback from F. & S., Bottenwil

"All the houses we saw on display somewhere and liked were from Atmoshaus. Even when we found an advertisement in the newspaper and liked the house, it turned out that Atmoshaus was behind it."
