A house, spacious and cozy

A young family has created their own personal haven in an idyllic setting next to a small chapel, actively participating in the planning of their home. Their vision was clear from the start: ample space for the children and a garden to play in, room for entertaining friends, and sufficient privacy for each family member. On a hill in the canton of Zurich, the family finally found a suitable plot of land to be developed by Atmoshaus . The peaceful location near their former home in Schlieren was an immediate hit. Although the general contractor's initial plans didn't fully meet their needs, the family took matters into their own hands, sketched their ideas, and refined them together with the architect. The result is a house perfectly tailored to the residents' needs – from the room layout to the kitchen design.
The location in the core zone, directly adjacent to the chapel, imposed building regulations, particularly the requirement for a pitched roof. At the same time, the family wanted to avoid sloping ceilings on the upper floor. The solution was an additional attic space that combines charm with maximum usability. This resulted in bright, light-filled rooms with floor-to-ceiling windows that define the architecture. The master bedroom features a walk-in closet with direct access to the shower room. Another bathroom is equipped with a shower and double vanity, while two equally sized rooms can be flexibly used as children's and guest rooms.
The ground floor impresses with its open-plan living, cooking, and dining area, which has become the family's central gathering place. Here, they cook together, laugh, and spend time with guests. The kitchen is a true highlight: an almost three-meter-long island, two ovens, and generous work surfaces offer ideal conditions for ambitious home cooks. Large windows open up views of the surrounding greenery and make the room feel even more spacious. The garden with its covered terrace is one of the residents' favorite retreats and invites them to relax outdoors.
The lower level features a quiet study and a spacious cellar that offers ample storage space in addition to housing the building's technical systems. The double garage integrates seamlessly and functionally into the overall design. An elegant external staircase leads to the slightly elevated entrance. The foyer, with an adjacent guest WC, serves as a stylish reception area. Visitors are consistently impressed by the house's unique atmosphere, while the owners themselves appreciate the thoughtful interplay of functionality and comfort. This detached house impressively demonstrates that with determination, creativity, and a reliable partner, dreams of homeownership can become reality.
